Throughout the last week at home due to COVID-19, I have been focusing on how to expand One Thread’s finances.

Firstly, I held another One Thread board meeting, discussing the flowcharts I made for each individual board director as well as what our overall timeline is for the rest of the year. For finances specifically, I actually went to the bank to see if I could open up a checking account for the One Thread nonprofit organization under my name. Although, I found out that the organization needed to have a $500 deposit or pay a monthly fee in order to finalize the account. Therefore, as I didn’t want to pay for a continuous monthly fee, I would rather put down the $500 deposit. Because school is closed, I am unable to receive the $280 of club membership fees and fundraiser profits. It was really frustrating to have to start, basically, from the beginning again.

To combat the problem, I opened a GoFundMe page and have been actively promoting the donation page on my social media accounts as well as One Thread’s social media pages that I have set up, including Facebook and Instagram. I have been also been drafting donor letters and donor emails for One Thread to send to friends and family. In the last week, we have gained $105! I’m hoping that the amount will continue to increase as I will be continuing to promote the cause throughout the next couple of weeks or until our One Thread merchandise are ready to be packaged and sold.
