Throughout the last week, I participated in ISM’s first major event of the year, ISM Business Symposium.

At the ISM Business Symposium, I mainly partook the role of an interviewer for a few students from various high schools that are now starting their journey in their first year of ISM. Throughout these interviews, I was able to give these young professionals advice on their resumes as well as understand what the mindset of an interviewer looks like. From what I have gained, the perspective of an interviewer is to best understand who the interviewee is, what their personality, habits, and experience are, in order to see who best suits the position applicable. Therefore, I suggested to the students to further describe their work experience or volunteer experience and organize different topics of their work or volunteer experience as the purpose is for the interviewer to understand what kind of person you are and how passionate you are as efficiently and as effectively as possible.

In addition, I was able to ask the students why they are passionate about their fields. Their responses lead me to hear a multitude of stories explaining their reasons as to why they decided to choose this field for their first year of ISM. Listening to different perspectives also made me more passionate about my field of social entrepreneurship because it made me think back to my own story and why I am passionate about business.

Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed my ISM Business Symposium experience, and is grateful to have the opportunity to interview my fellow peers as well as think back to myself and why I am passionate.
